GREENWOOD, Neb. -- Henderson, Colorado's Kelly Boen continued his assault on the 2009 racing season by winning the Cornhusker Classic at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on Saturday night. The $3,000 victory was his fifth O'Reilly MLRA win of the season. Boen worked his way from his twelfth starting spot before finally passing Marquette, Nebraska's Kyle Berck with two laps to go.
Berck held on for second with Coffeyville, Kansas' Al Purkey crossing the line in the third spot. Giltner, Nebraska's Al Humphrey had a great run to finish in fourth while Leon Zeitner rounded out Top 5. Bryant Goldsmith, Jason Friesen, Justin Zeitner, John Hampel, and Jason O'Brien crossed the line in sixth through tenth respectively. Defending Series Champion and current MLRA Point Leader John Anderson blew an engine early in the feature relegating him to a 22nd place finish. By virtue of his solid third place finish in the feature, Al Purkey has now closed the gap on the point leader with just three races remaining. Anderson's lead was 58 going into last nights event. Once the updated points are tallied, Anderson's lead will have shrunk considerably heading into next weekends events at Lakeside Speedway.

Park City, Kansas (August 16, 2009) - Kelly Boen rewrote the record book at Sunday's O'Reilly NCRA Late Model Series event at 81 Speedway. The four-time series defending champion has been red hot of late winning eight of the last nine main events. Sunday Boen extended the streak to nine out of ten winning for the tenth time this season.
It was also Boen's fifth straight victory breaking a 30-year old NCRA mark of four straight set by Tom Laster of Muskogee in 1979. Prior to the 2009 season the record for most victories in a season was seven which Boen set in 2005 and tied in 2007. Sunday Boen reset that mark for the third time this season with his tenth win. The victory also gave Boen a series leading 43 career victories.

Jefferson, South Dakota (July 24, 2009) - Kelly Boen is driving like a man on a mission. The four-time O'Reilly NCRA Late Model Series champion won at Park Jefferson Speedway on Friday to pick up his fourth straight and fifth series victory of the season.
After a disqualification for changing cars and a missed race dropped him from the points lead and out of the top ten, Boen has been playing catch up while former champion Kyle Berck has been happy to hold down the top spot. But Boen has been on fire of late and his win on Friday propelled him four spots to second in points only 290 points out of the lead.
Boen led from start to finish to win the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino feature over two-time O'Reilly NCRA champion Al Purkey. Berck was close behind in third to protect his points lead. Denny Echrich and John Anderson rounded out the top five.
